Garden Tea Party

Updated: Nov 5, 2024

If you love watching Bridgerton as much as I do, you're going to love this backyard garden tea party I hosted for my girlfriends. Inspired by the Netflix hit, I turned my mom's backyard into a scene straight from an English garden.

For decor, I set up a luxury picnic for 10 in a pastel color pallete. The tablescape was lined with gold candle holders filled with various colored candles, some hand painted by me, and fresh greenery. I am so fortunate to have an extremely talented grandmother who used to hand paint fine china so her painted vases, salt & pepper shakers, plates and pitchers were used throughout the decor! I've been eyeing the most stunning fabrics from JoAnn's for a few months and finally purchased them to use as tablecloths.

On my last trip to Pittsburgh, I picked up a beautiful gold table arch from anthropologie home outlet that I used on our food table. I decorated it with fresh greenery, blue hydrangeas and pinky peach roses with a faux crystal chandelier. I'll toot my own horn and tell you everyone loved it!! And I was pretty proud of myself for executing! I completed the set up by adding a fringe umbrella, hanging lanterns and floral garlands and dressing up my moms black rope swing.

Everyone dressed in their finest florals with puffy sleeves or flirty cuts. We accessorized with lace gloves, hair brooches & pointy heels, We acted like queens!

This was a Sunday brunch, so each person was tasked with bringing a dish or drink to share. Our menu consisted of lox bagels, sweet potato/bacon hash, fruit tray, watermelon feta slices, mini quiches & pastries. We sipped on coffee, tea, & mimosas. While we contemplated bloody mary's, it didn't seem like something the Queen would drink.

You know I love an activity, so for this event I took inspiration from Bridgerton's dance cards. While I played Bridgerton's string version of popular hits, everyone had to guess the song and write it down on their dance card. Some were easier than others!

This theme would be so perfect for brides "Briderton", or an adult birthday tea party! I can give you a million excuses to host a party just like this one. It is so fun to be fancy! (And if you're local, you know I'm here to do the set-up!)

You can find a list of all the things I purchased, from lace gloves to silverware, and used on this Amazon list (I receive commission for purchases made).
